1188 printed 22 sheets and selected 18 as finished works. In screen printing, every sheet is printed one at a time and every color is layered by hand. At 1188, the final decision is not simply whether ink reached the paper, but whether the physical result should remain as part of the artwork.
In this run, 18 sheets were kept and 4 were rejected, giving a good-print rate of approximately 81.8%. Those 18 prints became Edition 18.
Three colors, three screens, one color at a time.
BLACK / OLIVE / MUSTARD were each printed from separate screens. Making the screens, preparing the colors, registering the image, printing and judging the physical result are repeated steps that together form one finished work.
About ten hours of measured production time.
For this edition, screen preparation took approximately five hours and printing took another five hours, for roughly ten hours of production work. Photography, product listing and sales preparation are not included in that figure.
Hand pulled means each print is slightly different.
Small differences in ink density, texture and registration remain from print to print. 1188 looks at each physical sheet and decides whether it should remain as part of the final edition.
